Ten plus years ago, Todd Bol installed the first Little Free Library in front of his house in Hudson, Wisconsin, as a tribute to his mother, a teacher. Now over 80,000 Little Free Libraries can be found scattered throughout neighborhoods around the country so chances are there's one near you!

Our dream of a library on the grounds of our facility came true in the fall of 2015, thanks to good friend Matt, who worked very hard for us when he wasn't at his 'day job'. Since our Residents shared in the design of the library, he took special care, ensuring it was built the way they wanted. As a small assisted/independent living facility, Kensington Gardens wanted to have a place where they could visit, meet up, or share 'great reads'. We dedicated it to Bille, former boo

This library made possible by Dick, who made it, Terry who helped install it, Peter who let me put it on his private property, Professor Nichols who suggested it, and myself, who will maintain it. The siding, and hand-crafted shingles were made mostly of scrap teak.

We decided to put it on Fox Island because it is a small community and they could benefit from something like this. Our Little Free Library is located at the Fox Island Community Center. |

The other side has an underwater theme. The library was constructed by a local resident, Gary Stallman. Local artist Sonny Johnson painted the designs. |
